Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A high-speed container truck crashed into a police kiosk at Sector V’s College More late Tuesday night, causing extensive damage to the structure. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was moving at an extremely high speed from the direction of Godrej Waterside towards Chingrighata when it lost control near the busy intersection and rammed directly into the kiosk. The impact reduced the structure to debris within seconds.
No injuries or casualties have been reported as the kiosk was unoccupied at the time of the incident. There were no pedestrians or police personnel nearby when the crash occurred. Witnesses stated that the truck fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police have started an investigation and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby surveillance cameras to identify the vehicle and trace its route.
The incident follows another fatal road accident that occurred on Saturday at Wavell More, adjacent to College More. In that case, a 25-year-old IT professional was run over by a bus and died on the spot due to severe head injuries. The bus had attempted to flee but was intercepted by police near College More shortly after the incident.
